Since Dalton-Minimum 190 years ago, never has the sun been so inactive.

Currently solar activity is especially low. Solar sunspot number (SSN) in September was at 36.9, and thus was just 36% of the usual mean value 58 months into the cycle. The sun continues to remain in an unusually weak cycle 24, which was characterized by a 1-2 year delayed start in November 2008. The following graphic shows the mean value (blue) and the current cycle (red) and the very similar sunspot cycle SC5 (light gray) which occurred during the Dalton Minimum of the early 19th century:

During the Dalton Minimum the world cooled and weather was often more violent, shortening growing season and impacting the world’s food supply. Current crops are reporting record yields, perhaps from increased CO2. The question is with a colder climate, will the world’s farmers be able to sustain those robust yields?  Stay Tuned.

    When you consider that 40% of the corn crop is going into bio-fuels and a good part of the nation eats too much, I suspect that Big Ag will have no problem preventing food shortages. It may not even be a tough sell to the American people to ask them to support legislation to stop stupid and ineffective policies.

      Was watching the news and the reporters were interviewing people over the EBT glitch and all of them were over weight. We could all slim down, maybe some global cooling might be the just what mother nature ordered.

    I doubt the record crop stories when you go state to state most of the northern states don’t follow the memo. Also we may produce record food with nitrogen and phosphate fertelizer. However it has no nutrition in it. Our soils lack magnesium, chromium and sulfer. Modern farming is destroying the soil and leading to obesity diabetes and a host of autoimmune diseases.

        Russ I just know from growing up on farms that the soils play out with time. It doesn’t increase yield so farmers don’t waste money on remineralization.
        If you are diabetetic go to wheatbellyblog. Dr Davis runs the the site and wrote a book on how wheat is basically killing us. I lost 45lbs in 60 days stopping wheat. I was pre diabetic for years now sugers in the 60s and 70s. Blood pressure dropped 30pts as well. Girlfriend is diabetic her insulin needs have been cut in half. She also lost 35lbs No excercise her pressures have normalized after 15 yrs of meds. We also do transdermal magnesium and nascent iodine. If you do transdermal magnesium dilute it till it doesn’t itch when you apply.

    I bought the Kindle edition of Dr Davis’ book. I will let you know what I think. Our youngest daughter is eating gluten free and at 35 she looks awesome.

      Russ the other thing to look into is cocunut oil. It seems to help a co worker but it doesn’t do much for my girlfriend it will drop her from the 300s to the 250s improvement but if you need insulin 18 hurts as much as 20. My coworker uses it instead of metformin and stays in the low 100s about the same as metformin did.
